The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to unveil its National Campaign Council (NCC) and present its Statement of Account at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026, in Abuja.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., disclosed this in an official statement, saying the meeting would demonstrate the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its financial management.
According to the statement, the meeting will hold at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja, at 10 a.m.
A major highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the party’s Statement of Account by the National Treasurer. The NDC said the move was intended to promote financial transparency in political party administration, challenging other parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar practices.
“For the NDC, it is no longer politics as usual,” the statement declared.
The party, however, attributed its inability to generate more funds to the economic challenges facing the country, claiming that about 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford the Expression of Interest forms.
It said the party had to provide the forms free of charge to candidates who could not afford them, citing poverty, hunger and deprivation as factors affecting Nigerians.
The NDC also announced that the NEC meeting would feature the unveiling of its National Campaign Council, which it described as an all-encompassing structure covering presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns.
In addition, candidates of the party contesting for various political offices will be presented with their Certificates of Return.
The party said it was prepared to offer Nigerians what it described as altruistic leadership, expressing optimism about its political aspirations.
