Sustained military pressure by troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, has led to the surrender of a Boko Haram fighter in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The terrorist voluntarily surrendered to troops at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as troops continued operations aimed at degrading terrorist networks and restricting their freedom of action across the North-East.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the surrendered terrorist had previously operated in the Mandara Mountains axis, an area associated with terrorist activities along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
At the time of his surrender, troops recovered one Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb and a mobile phone from him.
The surrendered fighter has been taken into military custody and is undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling in accordance with established procedures.
The military said the development reflected the impact of sustained operational pressure on terrorist elements and their diminishing freedom of movement across the theatre.
It added that the surrender further demonstrated the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities while encouraging those still bearing arms to abandon terrorism and embrace peace.
The Theatre Command said it would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist groups, deny them freedom of action and create the conditions required for lasting peace and stability across the North-East.
