Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have intensified operations against fleeing Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists following their failed attack on troops at Kukawa, Borno State.

The troops recovered additional items belonging to the terrorists on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, during follow-up exploitation operations in the Alagarno axis, northeast of Kukawa.

According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the recovery formed part of continued efforts to track the terrorists and prevent them from regrouping after the failed attack on August 29.

Items recovered during the operation included additional motorcycles, three blankets, a jackknife, an extra-large prayer mat, cups, tea-making materials, a rope, a head warmer and a pair of trousers with bloodstains, among other personal effects.

The military said the bloodstained trousers and other items abandoned along the terrorists’ withdrawal route indicated that some of the attackers may have suffered casualties during the earlier encounter.

The recovery followed the successful repulsion of the terrorist attack on Kukawa, where coordinated ground and air operations inflicted significant losses on the attackers and disrupted their attempt to withdraw from the area.

Troops have continued exploitation and clearance operations across the general area, with the objective of denying the terrorists freedom of action and preventing them from regrouping or launching further attacks.

Operation HADIN KAI said it remains committed to sustaining operational pressure on terrorist elements and consolidating recent gains in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security across the North-East.
