The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, impartiality and the provision of a secure environment for Nigerians to exercise their democratic rights ahead of the January 2027 general elections.
The Air Officer Commanding, Logistics Command, NAF, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdul Suleh, stated this on Monday, August 31, 2026, at a one-day security training summit organised by the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos, in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research.
Suleh, while underscoring the importance of credible elections to Nigeria’s stability and democratic development, urged security personnel to remain professional, impartial and guided by the law in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He stressed that security personnel have a duty to protect the nation and its citizens, while calling for stronger inter-agency collaboration to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
The Air Vice Marshal also reaffirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces to support civil authorities in accordance with the Constitution, while respecting human rights and maintaining focus on peace and security.
He commended the organisers of the summit for what he described as a timely initiative, urging commanders and other security personnel to apply the knowledge gained from the training towards supporting a peaceful and successful 2027 electoral cycle.
