The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections, as the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson CON, reviewed campaign plans ahead of the unveiling of the party’s campaign council.
The leaders met for several hours on Thursday at the Abuja residence of Senator Dickson, in a meeting attended by Obi, Kwankwaso, National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, the two Deputy National Chairmen and other senior party officials.
According to an official statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Steve Nwosu, the meeting was part of ongoing consultations aimed at reviewing and fine-tuning key decisions ahead of the formal unveiling of the NDC campaign council.
The statement said the meeting focused on the finer details of the party’s campaign arrangements as the NDC moves to strengthen its structure and coordination ahead of the 2027 elections.
The latest engagement followed another marathon meeting involving Dickson, Obi and Kwankwaso on Monday, underscoring the increasing consultations among the party’s top leadership as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
The NDC leadership is also seeking to consolidate its campaign structures across the country following the commencement of campaigns in accordance with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party had last week directed its candidates across the country to commence campaigns in their respective states and constituencies following the official opening of the campaign period.
As part of efforts to strengthen unity and nationwide mobilisation, Dickson called on members and aspirants to work together towards achieving electoral victory for the party.
In a statement posted on his verified social media handles, the NDC National Leader urged party members to remain united and “join hands together” to secure victory for the party’s candidates at all levels across the country.
The ongoing consultations are expected to pave the way for the unveiling of the NDC campaign council, which will coordinate the party’s campaign activities and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
