The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjusted the ballot papers and result sheets for the Osun State Governorship Election to accommodate the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Francis Olugbenga Ajala, ahead of the August 15, 2026 poll.
According to an official statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the adjustment followed a judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered on July 22, 2026, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/344/2026.
The court had directed INEC to recognise, accept, upload, process and publish the name and particulars of Ajala as the SDP governorship candidate.
INEC said Ajala and his running mate, Faseke Babajimi Oladipo, have consequently been included in the ballot for the election.
The Commission disclosed that the ballot papers were being reproduced to reflect the addition, bringing the total number of political parties contesting the election to 15.
It added that the result sheets were also being reproduced to ensure consistency with the updated ballot papers.
The electoral body said the reproduced ballot papers would arrive in Osun State on Thursday, August 13, and would be distributed the same day to Local Government Area offices across the state in line with its standard distribution procedure.
The adjustment comes two days before the governorship election, which is scheduled to hold across the state on Saturday, August 15.
INEC assured political parties, candidates and the electorate of its commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible election in Osun State.
