Operation HADIN KAI has recorded a major intelligence breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the North-East, identifying several senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) following the exploitation of materials recovered during recent military operations in the Lake Chad region of northern Borno State.

According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops recovered several technical devices and other high-value intelligence materials during successful offensive operations against ISWAP terrorists.

The statement said one of the recovered items was a camcorder used by the terrorists to produce propaganda videos and document operational activities. Subsequent forensic analysis of the device generated actionable intelligence, enabling troops to identify locations linked to terrorist activities as well as the identities of key ISWAP leaders operating along the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis on the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Among those identified are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, described as the Wali (Governor) of the Islamic State West Africa Province; his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, popularly known as “The One-Handed Man”; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, identified as the Amirul-Fiya of ISWAP, alongside other senior operatives.

Operation HADIN KAI described Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the most wanted terrorist leader currently operating within the Lake Chad Basin and announced that a substantial financial reward would be offered to anyone whose credible and actionable information leads directly to his arrest.

The military assured members of the public that all information provided would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality, while the identities of informants would be protected in accordance with established security procedures.

The Joint Task Force urged citizens to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations by providing credible and timely intelligence through established security reporting channels or the dedicated telephone line, 0708 498 8859.

Operation HADIN KAI also advised members of the public not to confront or attempt to apprehend any of the identified terrorist suspects, stressing that all relevant information should be passed to security agencies for appropriate action.
