Troops of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued six kidnapped victims who escaped from their captors in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, reaffirming the military’s commitment to protecting lives and sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating in the state.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, the victims were rescued on 29 June 2026 during a routine foot patrol by troops deployed at Unguwan Doka.
The statement disclosed that the troops encountered six kidnapped victims wandering through the bush after successfully escaping from their abductors. The rescued victims comprised four women and two male children identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 16; Safiya Isiaku, 15; Ramatu Suleiman, 30; Muhammad Shehu, 4; and Ibrahim Suleiman, 2.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been abducted by armed bandits from Unguwan Lado in Kankara Local Government Area on 22 June 2026.
Following the rescue, the troops immediately administered first aid, provided food and other essential relief items before reuniting the victims with their families.
The Commander, 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements across its area of responsibility while ensuring the safety and security of lives and property.
He assured residents that the Nigerian Army would continue to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace and security in Katsina State.
