The Adamawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on Shilla gangsterism and other criminal activities, leading to the arrest of 57 suspects in coordinated operations across Jimeta, Girei and Yola Town.
According to an official signed statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the operation was carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, fdc, as part of sustained efforts to combat gangsterism, drug abuse, public nuisance and related crimes across the state.
The statement disclosed that the coordinated raids targeted identified criminal hideouts and black spots within the Jimeta and Yola metropolitan areas. The operation was executed by Divisional Police Officers under the supervision of their respective Area Commanders.
During the exercise, police operatives arrested 57 suspects for offences bordering on Shilla-related activities, public nuisance, possession of dangerous weapons and involvement with prohibited substances.
The Command also recovered various dangerous weapons and suspected banned substances from the suspects. The exhibits have been documented and are expected to be tendered as evidence during prosecution.
According to the statement, the suspects have been charged to court in line with the law, while profiling and further investigations are ongoing to determine their possible involvement in other criminal activities.
CP Hassan commended the professionalism and commitment of officers who participated in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s determination to dismantle criminal gangs and restore lasting peace across Adamawa State.
The Police Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to support crime prevention and detection efforts across the state.
