The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating Father’s Day, paying tribute to fathers across the country for their immense contributions to family stability, social cohesion, and national development.
According to an official signed statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, the IGP, on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, celebrated fathers for their sacrifices, dedication, and leadership in raising responsible citizens and strengthening the moral foundations necessary for a peaceful and prosperous society.
The statement noted that the Inspector-General acknowledged the critical role fathers play in nurturing children, promoting sound moral values, and instilling discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism—qualities essential for nation-building. He observed that the daily sacrifices made by fathers in providing guidance, protection, and support to their families continue to reinforce the social fabric of society and contribute significantly to national progress.
IGP Disu also paid special tribute to police officers who combine the demanding responsibilities of law enforcement with their roles as fathers and guardians. He commended their dedication and resilience, noting that many officers spend long hours away from their families in service to the nation while remaining committed to their parental responsibilities and serving as role models within their homes and communities.
As Nigerians marked this year’s Father’s Day celebration, the Inspector-General wished all fathers good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment. He further urged citizens to honour and appreciate the sacrifices, commitment, and lasting influence of fathers whose efforts continue to contribute to the development of a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social cohesion, and national development.
