The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, on Tuesday paid a working visit to Zamfara State where he joined police personnel, bereaved families and members of the public at the Salat al-Janazah held for three police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

In an official signed statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed that the visit also afforded the Inspector-General the opportunity to meet with officers and men of the Zamfara State Police Command, commiserate with them over the tragic loss, and reaffirm the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating banditry and other violent crimes in the state.

The IGP was received by senior government officials and security stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar M. Nakwada, who represented the Governor of Zamfara State during the funeral prayers and related engagements.

Addressing officers and men of the Command, IGP Disu described the deceased officers as gallant personnel who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation while confronting criminal elements threatening the peace and security of Zamfara State.

He conveyed the condolences of the Force Management Team and the entire Nigeria Police Force to the families of the fallen officers, assuring them that the sacrifice of their loved ones would never be forgotten.

The Inspector-General noted that although the loss was painful, it would further strengthen the resolve of the Nigeria Police Force to sustain ongoing operations against banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

He urged officers to remain focused, resilient and professional in the discharge of their duties, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to undermine the determination of security agencies to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara.

IGP Disu also commended the Zamfara State Police Command for its recent operational achievements, including the arrest of criminal suspects, recovery of explosives and other dangerous materials, recovery of stolen motorcycles, rescue of kidnapped victims and successful operations against armed bandits.

According to him, the achievements recorded by the Command reflect the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing, operational commitment and collaboration among security agencies in addressing security challenges.

The police chief assured officers of continued efforts by the Force leadership to improve operational capacity, logistics, welfare and other resources required for effective policing.

He further underscored the importance of intelligence-driven operations, community partnership and inter-agency cooperation in the ongoing fight against banditry and other forms of criminality.

The Inspector-General charged officers and men of the Command to remain steadfast, disciplined and committed to their constitutional responsibilities, noting that the greatest honour that could be paid to the fallen officers was the continued pursuit of peace, security and justice for the people of Zamfara State.
