The Director-General of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its significant contributions to national development, particularly in youth mentorship, empowerment, rural development, healthcare delivery, educational advancement, and job creation.

In an official signed statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations, NYSC, Caroline Embu, it was disclosed that Malam Ali Muhammad Ali gave the commendation while receiving the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, during a courtesy visit to the NAN Headquarters in Abuja.

He praised both past and serving Corps Members deployed to the agency, describing their service as impactful, dedicated, and invaluable to the organisation’s operations and national development objectives.

The NAN Director-General also lauded the leadership style of Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu since assuming office as Chief Executive Officer of the Scheme, noting that his tenure has continued to strengthen the relevance and effectiveness of the NYSC.

He advocated for the practice of developmental journalism, stressing its importance in driving national growth and shaping narratives that promote Africa’s image, particularly Nigeria’s, on the global stage. He reaffirmed NAN’s commitment to projecting African stories that reflect national progress and development.

In his response, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, expressed appreciation to NAN for its consistent and objective reportage of the activities of the Scheme over the years.

He assured that the collaboration between both organisations would continue to grow stronger, while reaffirming NYSC’s commitment to consolidating its achievements through innovative programmes that contribute further to national development.
