The Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified security operations following the abduction of several students from an off-campus lodge in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
According to an official signed statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 6 May 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. when unidentified armed hoodlums invaded a students’ lodge located at Anguwar Ninzo on the outskirts of Gudi and abducted a number of occupants to an unknown destination.
The Command disclosed that six of the victims have so far been identified as students of the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, while another victim was said to be a visitor staying with one of the students at the time of the attack.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Mohammed, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and reassured students, residents and the university community of the Command’s determination to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims.
As part of measures to strengthen ongoing rescue efforts, the Commissioner of Police redeployed the Area Commander, Akwanga, to coordinate field operations in the affected area pending the rescue of the victims.
The Police Command further stated that a combined security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, vigilante groups and other tactical units has been deployed to intensify search-and-rescue operations, track down the abductors and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
The Command urged members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and security conscious, while appealing to residents with credible information that could assist the ongoing operation to promptly report to the nearest police station or any security agency.
The Police Command added that further updates would be communicated as investigations and rescue operations progress.
