Troops of Sector 2 under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have intensified offensive operations against terrorist elements in Zamfara State, neutralising insurgents and recovering weapons during coordinated clearance missions across multiple locations.
In an official signed statement, the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed that the operations were launched in the early hours of May 4, 2026, targeting identified terrorist enclaves in Maikwanuga village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, as well as Aljumma, Gidan Dawa, Magami Didi and Tungar Magaji villages in Maradun Local Government Area.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja stated that troops made contact with terrorists at Tungar Magaji, where they engaged the criminals with overwhelming firepower, neutralising two of them, while others fled in disarray.
He further revealed that troops conducted a follow-up exploitation of the area after the engagement, leading to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine containing 30 rounds of ammunition, as well as one motorcycle.
The statement noted that the operations form part of an ongoing campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist hideouts within the Bagega–Sunke forest corridor and restoring lasting peace and security to affected communities.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive actions against terrorist elements within its area of responsibility, while urging members of the public to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to relevant authorities.
