The Action Alliance has distanced itself from the opposition political parties’ summit reportedly held in Ibadan, Oyo State, declaring that it neither participated in the meeting nor endorsed any of its resolutions, including plans to present a joint presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
According to an official signed statement by the National Secretary of the party, Vernimbe A. James, the attention of the National Executive Committee and National Think Tank Committee of the party, under the leadership of its National Chairman, Chief Barr. Kenneth Udeze, was drawn to reports listing the party among opposition groups that attended the summit on April 25, 2026.
The party clarified that no individual or delegation was authorized to represent it at the gathering, describing its inclusion among participating parties as erroneous and misleading. It further stated that it was not consulted prior to the meeting and therefore cannot be bound by any decisions or agreements reached at the event.
The leadership of the Action Alliance emphasized that it is not part of any coalition arrangement arising from the Ibadan summit and has formally disassociated itself from all resolutions reportedly adopted at the meeting.
Reaffirming its political position ahead of the next election cycle, the party stated that it remains fully prepared to independently field candidates across all elective positions, including State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
The development highlights ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s opposition political landscape, as parties continue to position themselves ahead of the forthcoming electoral contests.
