Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled multiple coordinated terrorist attacks and carried out precision follow-on strikes across key locations in the theatre, reinforcing ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent capabilities and protect civilians.

According to an official signed statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, the attacks occurred on April 22, 2026, at Kanama, Ngoshe, and Banki, but were decisively thwarted through the vigilance and superior firepower of troops, with no casualties or damage recorded.

The statement noted that the failed assaults underscore the sustained combat readiness of OPHK forces and their continued dominance in denying terrorists freedom of action across the operational area.

In continuation of offensive operations, troops executed precision air interdiction missions, including a strike conducted at about 0315 hours in Sowolowolo within the Sambisa Forest axis. The operation, carried out after careful target confirmation, destroyed remaining terrorist gun trucks in the area, bringing the total number of neutralised platforms to three.

Another precision strike was launched at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis, targeting terrorists reportedly engaged in burial activities following earlier strikes. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of scores of fleeing and regrouping insurgents.

The statement further disclosed that troops of Sector 1 under 26 Brigade conducted search and rescue operations towards the Mandara Mountains, successfully rescuing 15 women and children who had been abducted by terrorists.

In what was described as a desperate but ineffective retaliation, elements of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad fired projectiles into Gwoza, although no casualties or damage were recorded.

The military high command commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience, noting that the coordinated successes reflect effective air-land integration and sustained offensive pressure on terrorist elements.

It added that troops will continue to maintain relentless operations to dominate the battlespace and ensure the complete defeat of terrorist groups across the Joint Operations Area.
