Nigeria’s efforts to promote peacebuilding and reintegration of rehabilitated clients received renewed support as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that strengthen human security and social stability during the graduation ceremony of 744 clients at the Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) Camp of Operation Safe Corridor in Mallam Sidi, Gombe.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, the North-East Zonal Director of the agency, Suleiman Yakubu Abdullahi, described the occasion as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s broader national efforts toward peacebuilding, reconciliation and sustainable development.

Delivering the Director-General’s message, Abdullahi conveyed warm greetings and goodwill from the NEMA leadership while commending the commitment, resilience and collaboration demonstrated by all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the programme.

According to him, the successful completion of the deradicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration programme reflects the positive impact of synergy among government institutions, security agencies and development partners working toward national unity and stability.

He noted that the graduation of the clients was not only a personal achievement for the participants but also a demonstration of what can be accomplished through strategic planning and collective determination to restore peace in communities affected by violent extremism.

Addressing the graduands, Abdullahi congratulated them for successfully completing the programme and encouraged them to embrace their new path with responsibility and dedication.

He stated that their presence at the graduation ceremony symbolised courage, personal transformation and a renewed commitment to becoming responsible and productive members of society.

The NEMA representative urged the graduates to uphold the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence as they reintegrate into their communities.

He also emphasised that the knowledge, skills and experiences gained during the rehabilitation programme should serve as a solid foundation for building better futures for themselves and contributing positively to their communities.

Abdullahi further highlighted NEMA’s continued commitment to supporting initiatives that promote human security and social stability across the country.

According to him, the provision of relief materials during the ceremony was part of the agency’s efforts to facilitate recovery and strengthen the reintegration process for the graduating clients.

He explained that empowering individuals with adequate support systems is essential in preventing relapse into violent activities and in promoting long-term peace and stability.

The NEMA representative also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other partner institutions involved in the implementation of Operation Safe Corridor for their dedication to restoring hope and rebuilding lives through the programme.

He noted that the sustained collaboration among the Armed Forces, government agencies and development partners continues to make a meaningful impact in addressing the human dimensions of violent extremism.

As the ceremony concluded, Abdullahi called on stakeholders to renew their commitment to sustaining peace, strengthening national unity and promoting inclusive development across Nigeria.
