The Gen Christopher Gwabin Musa Support Initiative (GCGMSI) has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of several Nigerian soldiers in recent attacks by terrorists in parts of Borno State, urging Nigerians to remain united in supporting the nation’s security forces in the fight against terrorism.

In a statement made available to the press, the group extended heartfelt condolences to the Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, who is also the Grand Patron of the initiative, as well as to the families of military personnel who lost their lives during the attacks carried out by the extremist group Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The attacks occurred in several communities including Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Dalori in Borno State, where troops engaged terrorists in intense operations aimed at defending the region against insurgent activities.

Among the soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice were three senior military officers—U.I. Mairiga, Umar Faruq and S.I. Iliyasu—whose dedication to the service of Nigeria and commitment to safeguarding national security were widely acknowledged.

The statement, signed by the Convener of the initiative, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, popularly known as Sadaukin Garkuwan Keffi/Betara Biu, described the loss of the officers and other personnel as a painful reminder of the sacrifices being made daily by members of the Armed Forces in defence of the nation.

According to the group, the courage and dedication displayed by the fallen officers exemplify the commitment of Nigeria’s security personnel who continue to risk their lives to protect citizens and preserve the country’s territorial integrity.

The initiative called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their support for the military and other security agencies, stressing that national security requires the collective commitment of citizens, communities and government institutions.

It urged the public to continue praying for the success of ongoing military operations and cautioned against politicising security challenges facing the country.

“Every day, our security forces make immense sacrifices to safeguard our nation. The safety and security of Nigeria is a collective responsibility, and the public must continue to stand behind the men and women who defend the country,” the statement said.

The group also acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the defence minister in addressing the country’s security challenges, noting that Musa has continued to hold strategic engagements with service chiefs and military commanders to strengthen operational strategies across various theatres.

According to the initiative, the minister’s leadership and commitment to strengthening the Armed Forces reflect a determined effort by the Federal Government to restore peace and stability across affected regions.

The group expressed hope that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would not be in vain and called for renewed national unity in supporting security agencies working tirelessly to defeat terrorism and other threats to Nigeria’s peace and stability.
