President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate reconstruction of key federal roads in Niger State, marking a significant step in enhancing the nation’s transportation infrastructure. The approved projects include the Mokwa–Bida, Mokwa–Makeri, and Bida–Labata roads, covering a combined distance of 306.5 kilometres, which will be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.

In an official signed statement, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Honourable Minister of Works, Francis Nwaze, disclosed that the President has also authorized the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to connect with the East–West Road. The extension will feature a dual carriageway constructed with concrete pavement and solar-powered street lighting, with execution planned through a competitive bidding process.

The Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, in the statement expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the strategic approvals, noting that these projects are situated along critical national economic corridors and will significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and development. He called on Nigerians to recognize the administration’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development across all six geopolitical zones, particularly in delivering quality roads and bridges.

Minister Umahi also congratulated the governors and residents of Niger and Rivers States, as well as all Nigerians who stand to benefit from the new road projects, urging citizens to continue supporting and encouraging the administration as it works to deliver tangible dividends of democracy.
