The Quality Improvement Institute of Nigeria (QIIN) has conferred its Fellowship Award on the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike, in recognition of his leadership and the agency’s sustained commitment to quality management and institutional excellence.
The award was presented to Anosike on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the NiMet headquarters in Abuja, by the President and Chief Executive Officer of QIIN, Dr Stephen S. Hati.
The recognition also highlights NiMet’s more than a decade of commitment to quality management, demonstrated through continuous ISO certification and recertification, as well as the progressive expansion of its certified services.
These achievements, according to the agency, reflect its commitment to internationally recognised standards, operational efficiency, institutional excellence and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Speaking during the presentation, Anosike expressed appreciation to QIIN for the recognition and reaffirmed NiMet’s commitment to quality assurance, institutional innovation and continuous improvement.
He noted that adherence to internationally recognised standards remained essential to strengthening the agency’s capacity to deliver reliable and effective weather, climate and water-related services.
The visit also provided an opportunity for both organisations to explore areas of institutional collaboration, particularly in quality management, capacity development, research, professional training and organisational performance.
As part of efforts to strengthen the relationship, NiMet and QIIN considered formalising their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide a framework for sustained cooperation, communication and knowledge exchange.
The proposed partnership is expected to promote best practices in quality management, strengthen institutional capacity and improve organisational performance.
The fellowship recognition further reinforces NiMet’s commitment to maintaining international quality standards and providing meteorological services that support operational excellence, national development, public safety and socio-economic growth.
