The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to fortifying the country’s border security, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government. This was emphasized by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD., NPM, during a working engagement with members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Border Security at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

According to an official signed statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the committee, led by Chairman Hon. Isah Mohammed Anka, included members Hon. David Agada, Hon. Davidson Akinlayo Kolawole, Hon. Paul Gowon, Hon. Saba Ahmed Adamu, and the Clerk of the Committee, Mrs. Jemila Umar. Represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Bzigu Yakubu Kwazhi, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the committee’s proactive engagement, emphasizing that national security is a shared responsibility requiring coordinated strategies, institutional cooperation, and a unified vision for the country.

During the visit, Honorable Anka reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to enhancing border security and pledged full support to critical areas, including the deployment of modern technology, improved welfare for border personnel, and specialized training programs for officers of the Border Patrol Force.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Border Patrol Force, AIG Nemi Iwoh, commended the committee’s leadership for their backing and stressed that rapid implementation of resolutions from the engagement would significantly reinforce Nigeria’s border security framework.

Under the stewardship of IGP Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police Force reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the country’s borders and welcomed continued collaboration with the National Assembly and other stakeholders to achieve lasting and effective security outcomes.
