Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained intense offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno State, recording significant successes in clearance operations, fighting patrols and blocking actions that have led to surrenders, neutralisation of insurgents and the dismantling of key terrorist camps.

In an official statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military disclosed that under Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained pressure mounted by troops along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026 forced 11 terrorist fighters to surrender. The terrorists laid down their arms with their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition following the sustained offensive by troops.

Earlier, on 9 January 2026, OPHK troops conducted extensive clearance operations within the Bulaagalda cluster, during which several active terrorist enclaves and camps were destroyed. The operation led to the dismantling of camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, including the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. During the clearance, troops destroyed life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered items including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.

The statement further revealed that similar offensive operations carried out in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee in disarray, resulting in the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general purpose machine gun.

In a related operation conducted on the strength of credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, leading to the neutralisation of eight terrorists and the recovery of AK-47 rifles. In another development, troops arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying logistics to terrorist elements operating in the area.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Uba, troops of Operation HADIN KAI remain resolute and committed to sustaining offensive pressure against terrorist groups, dismantling their networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
