President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu (rtd.) as the new chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), with effect from 1 December 2025. The appointment, announced in an official statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to enhance transparency, accountability and overall efficiency in the administration of military pensions.

AVM Adamu, a respected financial expert and retired senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force, brings extensive experience in defence finance and policy management to his new role. Over the course of his career, he held several strategic appointments, including Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency, and Principal Staff Officer, Finance, at the Air Warfare Centre. He also commanded the 081 Pay and Accounting Group.

His leadership trajectory further includes serving as Director of Finance at the NAF Headquarters, as well as Managing Director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) and the NAFIL Group of Companies. He was also a Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, where he contributed to national policy development.

President Tinubu urged the new MPB chairman to uphold the highest standards of integrity, demonstrate patriotism and apply his financial expertise to significantly improve the welfare and support systems for military veterans.
