Nigeria strengthened its global defence presence on Monday as the Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, attended the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, one of the world’s leading gatherings for aerospace, space, and defence innovation. He was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal A.Y. Abdullahi, who represented the Chief of the Air Staff.

According to a statement issued by the Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mati Ali, the high-profile event was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Emir of Dubai and Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.

Minister Badaru led the Nigerian delegation through key facilities and exhibition stands showcasing some of the most advanced technologies in global aerospace manufacturing. The engagement provided Nigeria an opportunity to interface with major industry actors, explore emerging defence innovations, and strengthen international partnerships.

The Dubai Airshow, held biennially, is renowned as a premier global platform that brings together political leaders, innovators, government representatives, and defence industry giants. It serves as a hub for promoting business growth, strengthening strategic alliances, and unveiling cutting-edge technologies across multiple sectors.

The Nigerian delegation’s participation underscores the country’s determination to advance its defence capabilities and deepen collaboration with global partners. Minister Badaru reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to active engagement in international defence discussions, noting that the delegation is spotlighting the nation’s growing achievements in defence technology and its readiness to contribute meaningfully to global security cooperation.
