The Minister of State for Defence, H.E. Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, has issued a strong condemnation of the brutal night attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in the Zuru Emirate of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where bandits killed the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducted twenty-five students.
In an official statement released by the Assistant Director, Information & Public Relations, Enderline Chukwu, the Minister described the assault as “unacceptable” and called for sweeping, urgent action to rescue the abducted students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Dr. Matawalle disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has directed security agencies in the state to swing into immediate, coordinated action to ensure the safe release of the schoolgirls. He stressed the need for all security formations to work in concert, noting that the gravity of the attack demands a unified national response.
“The government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has directed that the state’s security apparatus swing into immediate action to ensure the abducted students are released unharmed,” the Minister stated, urging security forces to intensify operations and maintain synergy in the hunt for the attackers.
While assuring the public of the government’s commitment to resolving the crisis, Dr. Matawalle appealed for calm among residents of the affected communities, encouraging them to remain vigilant as the situation is being addressed by security agencies.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Vice Principal and those affected by the tragedy. “I pray to Allah to grant him mercy, a peaceful resting place, and to console his family and loved ones over this painful and unjust loss,” the Minister said, reaffirming the government’s resolve to prevent further acts of violence against students and schools.
