The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State, granting residents additional time to obtain their cards ahead of the November 8 governorship election.
In an official statement signed by the Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, the Commission said the decision followed several appeals from citizens, civil society groups, and stakeholders requesting an extension to enable eligible voters collect their PVCs before Election Day.
According to INEC, the extension was approved at the Commission’s meeting held on Monday, October 27, 2025. The exercise, which was initially scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, will now continue from Wednesday, October 29 to Sunday, November 2, 2025.
The extension covers all registered voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State and have yet to collect their cards. Eligible voters are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this additional window to visit the designated collection centres located across the 326 Registration Areas (Wards) in the state.
INEC emphasized that PVC collection remains strictly in person, as no collection by proxy will be permitted.
“The Commission appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the good people of Anambra State,” Mrs. Eta-Messi stated. “We urge all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs and get ready to participate actively in the forthcoming governorship election.”
