The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into a recent incident involving its personnel and some civilians along the Nsukka–Igbo Eze South Road in Enugu State, which was captured in a video circulating on social media. The encounter reportedly occurred during a routine security check in the Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, the Army acknowledged the viral footage and stressed that while such security checks are essential for public safety, all allegations of misconduct are treated with utmost seriousness.

“A thorough investigation has been instituted to establish the facts surrounding the incident, and the outcome will be made public,” the statement read. “If the personnel are found guilty, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken in line with military regulations.”

Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni reaffirmed the Division’s commitment to carrying out its constitutional duties with professionalism, guided by the Nigerian Army’s Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct. He added that the Division remains dedicated to transparency, accountability, and fostering positive civil–military relations.

The 82 Division also expressed appreciation to members of the public and the media for their vigilance in bringing such matters to light, assuring that constructive engagement helps strengthen mutual trust between security forces and the communities they serve.
