The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has refuted reports circulating on social media and some online news platforms alleging the appointment of Yomi Odunuga as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the SGF.
In a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the OSGF categorically denied making such an appointment or issuing any statement to that effect. The office clarified that at no time has the Secretary to the Government of the Federation made such an appointment.
“For the avoidance of doubt, appointment of Special Advisers at the Federal level is the sole prerogative of the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” Imohiosen stated.
The OSGF warned that the misinformation being circulated appears to be the handiwork of individuals seeking to mislead the public for selfish reasons. It therefore urged members of the public and media organisations to disregard the claims and desist from amplifying unverified information.
“The public and media organisations are hereby advised to disregard the circulation of these unverified claims, which appears to be the work of some individuals with the intent of misleading the public for selfish gains, and to rely only on verified information officially released and duly signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, OSGF,” the statement concluded.
