The Nigerian Army has recorded a string of operational victories across multiple theatres of operation in the country between 25 and 26 June 2025, with the recovery of large caches of arms and ammunition, the arrest of criminal suspects, and the rescue of kidnap victims.
According to updates from the official Army information handle, troops operating in the North-East under the 82 Division Task Force Battalion made significant progress while on a perimeter patrol in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. Acting on credible intelligence along a known ISWAP/JAS withdrawal route, the soldiers recovered 408 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 1,200 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two 40mm RPG bombs.
In a related operation, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade neutralized three terrorists during a successful raid in Bama LGA of Borno State. The troops also recovered a Dane gun and destroyed key terrorist life-support structures within the area.
Elsewhere in Monguno, also in Borno State, vigilant troops intercepted a vehicle suspected of ferrying logistics supplies for terrorist elements. One suspect was apprehended, and the intercepted items included 65 litres of petrol, four bags of rice, five bags of groundnuts, four bags of NPK fertilizer, tubers of yam, seven motorcycle headlights, ten solar lights, 2,000 empty cement bags, four solar panels, and one mobile phone.
In the North-West, troops of 2 Battalion deployed in Kaduna State recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during an encounter with fleeing armed men on a motorcycle in Birnin Gwari. Similarly, in Zamfara State, troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army neutralized a notorious terrorist kingpin known as Mai Dada during a counterattack in Maru LGA.
In the South-South, security operatives arrested a criminal suspect in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State. The suspect was found in possession of a pump-action rifle and cutlasses.
Meanwhile, in the North-Central region, troops under Operation SAFE HAVEN carried out a sweeping offensive in multiple communities in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State, including Tangur, Kwakas, Horop, Tulus, Jinak, and Hokk villages. With aerial support from UAV drones, troops combed the mountainous terrain and recovered a Dane gun abandoned by fleeing criminal elements.
Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE deployed in Jooter/Kyado responded to a distress call about kidnappers along the Peykia–Wukari road in Ukum LGA of Benue State. A fierce gunfight ensued, forcing the kidnappers to abandon five abducted passengers who were subsequently rescued. One vehicle was also recovered from the scene.
In the Niger Delta region, troops of 5 Battalion deployed in Otueke, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State, arrested two suspects in possession of two locally fabricated pistols and one round of 9mm ammunition. The suspects were reportedly intercepted during a routine patrol.
