The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online following concerns by Nigerians and other stakeholders over the accessibility of the register after its physical display nationwide.
The Commission said the online publication was an additional measure to promote transparency, improve public access and strengthen confidence in the electoral process.
According to an official statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), the Commission conducted the physical display of the Preliminary Register of Voters at Registration Areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026.
The exercise was carried out in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, to enable registered voters to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as provided by law.
INEC said it had taken note of concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders regarding the need to make the register accessible online in addition to the physical display already conducted.
Consequently, the Commission announced that the same Preliminary Register of Voters previously displayed at Registration Areas could now be accessed through its online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
The Commission explained that the online access would complement the physical exercise and enable more Nigerians to inspect the register.
It added that the process of considering and addressing claims and objections arising from the exercise was ongoing in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
INEC said the process would precede the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters scheduled for December 15, 2026.
The Commission appreciated the continued interest and constructive engagement of Nigerians and stakeholders, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and the faithful implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026 to ensure credible elections in 2027.
