In a decisive show of force, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has executed a series of precision air strikes in support of ground operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, targeting terrorist elements responsible for recent attacks in Niger State. The strikes, carried out between 24 and 26 June 2025, were aimed at neutralizing threats and disrupting terrorist operations in the region.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Component acted on credible intelligence and collaborated closely with other security services and agencies. On 26 June, actionable reports revealed terrorist activity in the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities, including cattle rustling and coordinated attacks on locals.
In response, the NAF deployed its air assets to the identified locations and executed multiple waves of precise and timely strikes. The operation successfully neutralised scores of terrorists, destroyed key logistics infrastructure, and thwarted efforts by the criminals to regroup.
The operation is a testament to the NAF’s commitment to joint operations, professionalism, and its swift response capabilities in tackling emerging threats. The Air Force’s close coordination with ground troops and other security stakeholders significantly enhanced the impact of the strikes.
Air Commodore Ejodame affirmed the unwavering resolve of the Nigerian Air Force to safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians. He emphasized that the NAF will continue to pursue all avenues necessary to secure the nation and ensure lasting peace, particularly in volatile regions such as Niger State.
The recent offensive adds to the growing list of successful joint security operations targeting insurgent and terrorist elements across the country, further reinforcing the Nigerian military’s resolve to eliminate threats and restore normalcy.
