The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 31 individuals suspected of engaging in internet-related fraud in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to an official signed statement by Dele Oyewale, Head, Media and Publicity, the arrests were carried out on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, by operatives of the Commission’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate.

The operation, which took place at various locations across the city, was based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to a range of cybercrime activities.

During the raid, the EFCC recovered several items, including luxury cars, smartphones, smart wristwatches, and laptop computers, all believed to be proceeds or tools of the alleged fraudulent operations.

The statement confirmed that the suspects will be formally charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to tracking and prosecuting individuals involved in cybercrime and other forms of financial fraud, as part of its broader mandate to protect the integrity of the Nigerian economy.
