Nigerian Army Embraces Emerging Tech for Enhanced Battlefield Success

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, has emphasized the need for the Nigerian Army (NA) to leverage on the emerging technology in modern warfare for effective battlefield successes in various theatre of operations.

Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Training and Doctrine Command, Lt. Col. Sani Uba in an official signed statement, disclosed that Maj. Gen. Aligbe stated this at the opening of the Department of Research and Development In-House Study Period 2025, held at the Headquarters TRADOC NA Auditorium, Minna on Wednesday 23 April, 2025, with theme “Building Capacity for Research and Development Initiative for Military Operations Within a Multi-Agency Environment,” which he disclosed aligns with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Command Philosophy.  

Represented by the Chief of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (CRDT&E) TRADOC NA, Maj. Gen. Aminu Chinade, he disclosed that the study period was designed to build capacity and broaden the horizon of the officers and Soldiers of TRADOC NA on contemporary Research and Development  issues.

He stressed the significance of research and development in Wednesday 23 April, 2025enhancing the operational effectiveness of the NA especially in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and robotics amongst others. 

According to  the Commander TRADOC, the in-house study period will  provide an avenue for participants to engage in fruitful deliberations, meaningful cross-fertilization of ideas and minds during the lectures and interactive sessions in order to drive maximum benefits of the study period.  

Maj. Gen.  Aligbe commended the COAS Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede  for providing the resources needed for the conduct of the study period and indeed his unflinching support always for TRADOC NA activities.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Research and Development, Test and Evaluation TRADOC, Maj. Gen. Chinade, represented by the Director, Research and Development TRADOC NA, Brigadier General Martins Eteng, described the study period as a crucial milestone in refining strategies and fostering a culture of continuous learning within the NA. 

“The world is standing at the threshold of a new era where technology is redefining industrialization, revolutionizing the way people live, work and unlocking unprecedented opportunities in both civil and military domains around the globe.” He said.  

The two-day event seeks to produce groundbreaking ideas to transform modern military operations.
