The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked misleading claims circulating about the delineation of wards in the Warri Federal Constituency, saying that no final decision has been made.

An official signed statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun disclosed that the commission clarified that the ongoing process stems from a Supreme Court judgment delivered on December 2, 2022, which mandated the delineation in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West LGAs.

Following extensive consultations and fieldwork across the affected areas between February 2023 and July 2024, a draft report was presented to stakeholders on Friday, April 4, 2025.

According to INEC, the aim is to foster dialogue and achieve consensus before any decisions are finalised.

INEC urged stakeholders to submit observations on the draft report and cautioned against any actions that could jeopardise peace in the region.

The Commission reassured the public of its commitment to fairness, equity, and the rule of law throughout the process.
