…Reaffirms Commitment to Maintaining Operational Momentum.

By Nkechi Eze

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has emphasized the importance of front-line troops remaining steadfast and resolute in their duties to ensure the country’s unity. He made this statement today, 26 December, 2024, during a Christmas celebration with troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Sokoto State on December 26, 2024.

Speaking further at the occasion, the CDS expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in ensuring Nigeria’s safety and security. He highlighted the successful dislodgment of the re-emerged Lakurawas’ terrorist from their camps in Sokoto and Kebbi States as a testament to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) commitment to resolving and combating security challenges across the country. The CDS pledged the Armed Forces’ continuous efforts to sustain operational tempo and posture across military deployments both domestically and internationally.

General Musa assured troops of necessary support and resources to carry out their tasks effectively. He also encouraged troops to embrace fostering unity, understanding, and compassion in all they do, and further expressed his sincere appreciation to the His Excellency, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for his relentless support and the confidence reposed on him to lead members of the AFN, while reaffirming AFN unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic. Similarly, he thanked the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency, Dr Ahmad Aliyu, for his support. The CDS also took time to visit wounded and sick soldiers of 8 Division Nigeria Army, Sokoto at their hospital bed. He finally charged troops to be vigilant, stay focused, and continue to exemplify the finest military traditions.

In his response, the General officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigeria Army and Commander Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General IS Ajose, described the feast as a testament to General Musa’s unflinching support and commitment to troops welfare, morale and operation efficiency of troops. He commended the CDS for his several visits in 3 months, which he said has afforded CDS the opportunity to understand and appreciate the performances and challenges faced by troops.

Major General Ajose emphasized that the Christmas feast is not just a celebration, but also a time for reflection on collective sacrifices and achievements. It’s an opportunity for the team to come together, strengthen their resolve, and acknowledge the troops’ remarkable courage, resilience, and professionalism, which have been instrumental in their successes so far.
