Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have sustained their offensive against terrorists in Sokoto State, neutralising two suspected terrorists and recovering four AK-47 rifles, eight motorcycles and other military-related items during clearance operations.
The operations, conducted on October 15, 2026, saw troops of Sector 2 engage terrorists in separate encounters at Waria Forest and Sarma Village, disrupting their activities and forcing some of them to flee.
According to an official statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops first made contact with terrorists at Waria Forest, where a firefight resulted in the neutralisation of one terrorist.
The troops subsequently recovered two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other items from the location.
In a subsequent encounter at Sarma Village, the troops engaged another group of terrorists, neutralising one and forcing others to flee, abandoning their equipment.
Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of six additional motorcycles, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, one communication device and other sundry items.
The recoveries brought the total number of AK-47 rifles recovered during the operations to four, while eight motorcycles were also seized.
The Theatre Command said the operational gains reflected the sustained commitment of troops to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the Joint Operations Area.
It also acknowledged the continued support and cooperation of members of the public, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
The command reiterated the importance of public cooperation in supporting ongoing security operations and efforts to restore stability across the region.
