Engineer Muhammad Dikko has assumed office as the substantive Director of the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), following the redeployment of his predecessor, Mr Baba Gambo, to the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC).
According to an official statement signed by Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs, FEMD, Gambo was redeployed to AMMC as Director of Administration, while Dikko takes over the leadership of the emergency management agency.
At a brief valedictory session, the Head of Forecasting, Response and Mitigation, Mark Nyam, described Gambo as a consummate administrator who gave staff opportunities to showcase their talents.
Nyam, who noted that disaster management was a collective effort, commended the outgoing director for his commitment to staff development.
Also speaking, the Head of Relief and Rehabilitation, Hajia Fatima Sarou, wished Gambo well in his new office, describing him as an experienced administrator.
Dikko, until his redeployment, served as Director of Projects at the FCTA Education Secretariat. He began his career with the FCT Administration at the Area Council Service Board, where he served in Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kuje and Bwari Area Councils.
He also worked with the Department of Development Control under the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council.
The new FEMD director holds a National Diploma in Building and Quantity Surveying from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, and a Higher National Diploma in Building Technology from Kaduna Polytechnic.
He further obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a Master of Engineering in Construction Management and Technology from Bayero University, Kano.
Dikko is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS) and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Building (FNIOB).
