The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has strengthened efforts to promote personnel welfare and camaraderie in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) through a daily lunch initiative at the Service Headquarters in Abuja.
Aneke on Friday, October 2, 2026, joined officers, airmen and airwomen for lunch at the Headquarters NAF, providing an opportunity for personnel across ranks to interact in an informal setting away from the usual formalities of command.
The initiative, introduced by the CAS, makes lunch available to NAF personnel at Headquarters and encourages them to step away from their offices and demanding work schedules during the lunch break.
During the engagement, the Air Chief shared a meal with personnel, exchanged pleasantries and engaged in relaxed conversations, creating a common space for interaction and strengthening bonds among members of the Service.
The initiative is also intended to provide personnel with an opportunity to refresh during the workday and return to their duties with renewed focus and energy, particularly given the demanding operational commitments of the NAF.
The development reflects the Service’s emphasis on personnel welfare as an important component of operational effectiveness, recognising that a mission-ready force depends not only on training, equipment and operations but also on strong relationships within its ranks.
By encouraging interaction beyond formal command structures, the NAF said the initiative would foster a stronger sense of connection and shared responsibility among personnel in the collective task of protecting Nigeria and its citizens.
