The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi Single Circuit Transmission Line after a tower collapse forced the line out of service for more than three weeks.
The line was restored at 5:24 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following the erection of an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower at the affected location in Yauri.
The transmission line was taken out of service on September 7 after Tower 367 collapsed, disrupting the transmission infrastructure along the route.
TCN said the restoration works involved dismantling and decommissioning the collapsed tower, aligning and preparing the conductors and skywire, erecting the ERS tower and carrying out other associated works required to safely restore the line.
The company said its engineers worked round the clock to complete the restoration works and return the line to service as quickly and safely as possible.
TCN appreciated electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding throughout the period of the outage.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable and reliable electricity transmission network across the country.
