Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnap victims during a swift response to an attack along the Daye-Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims, comprising six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and a male commercial driver, were rescued on the evening of September 21, 2026, after troops responded to a distress call over an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
The troops swiftly moved to the scene, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding area.
All seven victims were rescued unhurt and subsequently subjected to preliminary security profiling and medical evaluation.
They were later handed over to designated officials for further assistance and reunification with their families and the relevant authorities of the university.
The successful operation underscores the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to protect civilians and counter kidnapping and other criminal activities across the region.
