The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Zone A, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its sustained efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes in Nigeria, pledging to strengthen its partnership with the Commission.
According to an official statement signed by Dele Oyewale, Head, Media & Publicity, the Zonal Coordinator, NIS Zone A, ACG Mohammed Adamu, gave the commendation on Thursday, September 10, 2026, when he received the Acting Director, Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Adebayo Adeniyi, and his delegation on a courtesy visit to the NIS Zonal Headquarters in Lagos.
Adamu said the EFCC’s sustained campaign against corruption and financial crimes had contributed to improving Nigeria’s image both locally and internationally.
Describing the EFCC as one of the country’s “most prestigious and hardworking agencies,” the NIS Zonal Coordinator commended the Commission for its achievements and convictions, saying they would serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.
“I am highly delighted to receive you and your entourage from the EFCC, one of the most prestigious and hardworking agencies in Nigeria. Thank you for a job well done. The EFCC has recorded significant achievements and secured convictions. These convictions serve as a deterrent to potential offenders, and Nigerians are proud of your work,” he said.
Adamu pledged the readiness of the NIS to deepen collaboration with the EFCC through intelligence sharing and other forms of cooperation to tackle economic and financial crimes.
He also assured the EFCC that the visit would be communicated to the NIS Headquarters to further strengthen the existing relationship between the two agencies.
“I will communicate this visit to the Headquarters so that they are aware of the strong working relationship we have with the EFCC,” he said.
The NIS Zonal Coordinator further requested training opportunities for officers of the Service, noting that enhanced capacity building would improve their effectiveness and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
In his remarks, Adeniyi appreciated the NIS for the cooperation the EFCC had enjoyed from the Service over the years, stressing the need for both agencies to sustain their synergy in tackling economic and financial crimes.
“We appreciate your office for the cooperation we have enjoyed over the years. We are here to express our gratitude and to sustain the existing relationship,” he said.
He also assured the NIS that the EFCC remained committed to conducting its operations in accordance with due process and urged the Service to communicate any concerns regarding the Commission’s operations.
“If there are any issues regarding our operations, please let us know. The Commission is committed to ensuring that everything is handled in line with due process. We look forward to continued cooperation,” Adeniyi added.
The meeting underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing and capacity building in strengthening Nigeria’s efforts against corruption and financial crimes.
