Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have disrupted a terrorist operation and rescued six kidnapped victims in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to an official statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the operation was carried out on September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity at Mehinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made contact with the terrorists, engaging them with a high volume of fire.
The sustained firepower from the troops forced the terrorists to flee the area, abandoning the six kidnapped victims in their custody.
The troops subsequently rescued all six victims unharmed. A vehicle was also recovered from the scene and, alongside the rescued victims, handed over to the relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
The Joint Task Force said the successful operation underscored the resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across its Joint Operations Area.
The task force appreciated members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities within their communities to the nearest security outpost.
It said timely and credible information remained crucial to enabling security forces to respond swiftly to emerging threats and sustain ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal and terrorist networks.
