The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has commended the retiring Deputy Commandant General, DCG Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla, for his exemplary leadership, mentorship and dedicated service to the Corps.
Audi gave the commendation at a valedictory ceremony held at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, where he described DCG Adeyinka’s career as a remarkable example of service, humility, professionalism and commitment to developing others.
According to an official statement signed by the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, the Commandant General said the retiring DCG had made significant contributions to the growth of the Corps, particularly through his leadership of the Directorate of Administration.
Audi praised Adeyinka for his diligence, effective supervision and efforts to build the capacity of other officers, noting that the ability to prepare others to sustain an organisation was one of the clearest measures of effective leadership.
“One of the clearest measures of a leader is the ability to prepare others to continue the work,” Audi said, stressing that although the retiring officer’s absence would be felt across the Corps, his investment in people and systems had ensured that he would not leave a vacuum.
The Commandant General urged serving personnel to draw lessons from Adeyinka’s humility, professionalism and unwavering dedication to duty, while describing retirement as the beginning of a new chapter in the officer’s life.
Audi also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, for approving the continued payment of salaries to retiring DCGs.
He described the presidential approval as a significant recognition of the sacrifices and years of service rendered by senior officers to the nation.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Secretary, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd); DCG Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc, on behalf of the DCGs; representatives of the Comptroller General of Immigration and the Federal Fire Service; and former Acting Commandant General of the NSCDC, Hillary Kelechi Madu, fsi.
The Corps said Adeyinka’s retirement marked not merely the end of an active service career but the culmination of a legacy of leadership, mentorship and institutional development that would continue to influence personnel within the NSCDC.
