National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, CON, has approved the appointment of Sani Takori, VinMartin Obiora Ilo and Steve Nwosu to key positions aimed at strengthening the political operations and strategic communication of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While Takori was appointed Political Adviser, Ilo was named Chief Technical Adviser (CTA), with Nwosu appointed Spokesperson to the NDC National Leader.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are also expected to reinforce the administrative and communication structures around Dickson in his capacity as National Leader of the NDC and as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to an official statement signed by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the appointments were made to strengthen operations, administration and strategic communication around the National Leader and the party.
The party described Ilo and Nwosu as professionals with established records of credibility, integrity and professionalism, while Takori was described as a tested and trusted public administrator with an impressive political résumé.
Takori, a lawyer by training, began his career in the old Sokoto State, where he served in various capacities before becoming Solicitor-General and later Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Zamfara State.
An alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Takori was elected into the House of Representatives between 2003 and 2007. He also secured his party’s senatorial ticket on four occasions but voluntarily stepped down for candidates who eventually won the elections.
A former Local Government Chairman, Takori served as National Legal Adviser to the Council of Ulamas, Chief Legal Officer of the Nigerian Electoral Commission and Secretary of the Yarima Presidential Campaign in 2003 and 2007.
He was the Zamfara State governorship candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) in the 2019 election and is a founding member of the NDC, serving as its Protem National Secretary at the registration of the party.
The 68-year-old politician and lawyer hails from Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Ilo, the new Chief Technical Adviser, is a media executive, broadcast journalist and development and international relations expert with nearly four decades of experience across broadcasting, public service, strategic communications and development consultancy.
An alumnus of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Ilo holds a degree in Mass Communication from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, an MSc in Development Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University.
He began his career with Radio Nigeria and later joined Africa Independent Television (AIT), where he retired in 2013 as Director, Special Duties and South-East Operations.
Ilo also served as Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Enugu State and as a member of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Until his latest appointment, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature TV.
Nwosu, the new Spokesperson, is a multi-platform journalist, media administrator, consultant and political communication strategist with more than 30 years of experience spanning print, broadcasting and online media.
He worked with The Guardian and THISDAY, where he held several editorial positions, before joining The Sun Newspapers at its inception as pioneer Editor of Saturday Sun. He later became Editor of Daily Sun, Executive Director, Corporate Services, and Deputy Managing Director and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Sun.
Nwosu subsequently established The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper and also served briefly as Controller of News at PLUS TV Africa. He served on the editorial boards of THISDAY and The Sun.
He is currently Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Edibofa Communication and Publishing Limited, owners of People’s FM 105.5 Abuja, People’s FM 93.1 Yenagoa, Universal Television Africa (UTV Africa) and The Nigerian Xpress Newspaper.
Nwosu also served for eight years on the Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, first as a member representing the West Zone and later as Treasurer.
The NDC said the three appointees would be responsible for briefs covering Dickson’s activities as National Leader of the party and as a serving Senator, as the party positions itself for the 2027 general elections.
