Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons during offensive operations in Zamfara State, while also intercepting 180 explosive materials allegedly being conveyed to terrorist elements.
The troops of Sector 2, on August 14, 2026, encountered terrorists during an offensive clearance operation around Garin Kaso in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of the state.
The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists, while troops recovered two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.
The terrorists later attempted to ambush the advancing troops from concealed positions, but the troops fought through the ambush, inflicting further casualties on the attackers and forcing the surviving terrorists to flee.
In a separate operation, troops also intercepted a courier allegedly conveying 180 explosive materials to terrorist elements operating in the state.
The latest operations form part of the ongoing offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, deny them freedom of movement and prevent the movement of weapons and other materials used to sustain their activities in the North-West.
