The Nigerian Army has used its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiative to support education in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State, donating educational materials to selected schools as part of efforts to strengthen community resilience and foster closer ties with the civilian population.

The intervention was carried out on Saturday, August 8, 2026, by Headquarters Sector 3 Operation HADIN KAI/Multinational Joint Task Force (OPHK/MNJTF), as part of its non-kinetic activities aimed at addressing identified needs within its Area of Responsibility.

Presenting the materials, the Sector Commander, Brigadier General Shehu Ahmed, represented by the Commander Sector 3 Garrison, Brigadier General Ikechukwu Ogundele, said the initiative reflected the Sector’s commitment to supporting programmes that contribute to the wellbeing and development of host communities.

Ogundele emphasised that education remains critical to sustainable development and community resilience, assuring that the military would continue to support people-oriented initiatives that contribute to peace and stability.

He explained that the donation was also aimed at strengthening civil-military cooperation, noting that meaningful engagements with host communities help build understanding, trust and confidence between the military and civilians.

According to him, such interventions complement ongoing kinetic operations by fostering greater cooperation between security forces and the communities they serve, which he said was essential to sustaining peace and security in the North East.

Receiving the materials on behalf of the Monguno Local Government Authority, Mr Babagana Modu Kur expressed appreciation to Headquarters Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF for the intervention.

Kur commended the Nigerian Army for supporting educational development in the community and assured that the materials would be equitably distributed to the benefiting schools to ensure maximum impact.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Nigerian military to the restoration of peace and normalcy in Borno State.

The educational donation forms part of the ongoing CIMIC activities of Headquarters Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF, which seek to address community needs, strengthen engagement with host communities and build the trust and cooperation required to consolidate peace and security across the North East.
