The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, have pledged to deepen collaboration between their institutions to promote national values, strengthen civic responsibility, and enhance conflict prevention across the country.

The commitment was made on Thursday when the NOA Director-General paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

During the meeting, Issa-Onilu reaffirmed the Agency’s resolve to drive national reorientation through sustained public enlightenment campaigns aimed at fostering patriotism and responsible citizenship.

He identified the Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter as flagship initiatives designed to strengthen national cohesion and promote shared values among Nigerians.

The NOA boss also proposed closer cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force in the areas of public sensitisation, intelligence sharing, and early conflict prevention, describing collaboration between both institutions as essential to building a safer and more united nation.

“The Nigeria Identity Project and the National Values Charter are central to our efforts to strengthen national cohesion. Working closely with the Nigeria Police Force on public sensitisation, intelligence sharing, and early conflict prevention will enhance our collective ability to build a more peaceful society,” Issa-Onilu said.

Responding, IGP Disu welcomed the proposal and stressed that professionalism, respect for human dignity, and ethical policing remain critical to strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

The Inspector-General also urged Nigerians to use social media responsibly by verifying information before sharing it, warning that the spread of unverified content could fuel tension and undermine national security.

“Professionalism, respect for human dignity, and ethical policing are indispensable to building public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force,” the IGP said.

He further encouraged young Nigerians to embrace positive values and responsible citizenship, noting that character development and civic responsibility are vital to national progress.

“Every citizen has a responsibility to verify information before disseminating it. Responsible use of social media and the promotion of positive values, especially among our youths, are essential to preserving peace and national unity,” Disu added.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to sustained partnership with the National Orientation Agency in advancing national security, responsible citizenship, and national development.
