The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has confirmed that the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, honoured an invitation by its investigators as part of the ongoing probe into the activities of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

According to an official signed statement by the Head of Media and Public Communications of the ICPC, Mr. J. Okor Odey, Gbajabiamila visited the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 20, 2026, where he gave a statement in connection with the investigation before leaving the premises.

The Commission stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, had directed it to investigate how the PFIPC, which the Presidency has disowned as a fraudulent entity, allegedly operated from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja for about two years.

The investigation is centred on the activities of one Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who allegedly presented himself as the Director-General of the purported council while it reportedly operated from government premises.

The ICPC clarified that Gbajabiamila’s appearance before investigators was strictly in response to an invitation and formed part of the Commission’s efforts to establish all the relevant facts surrounding the case.

The anti-corruption agency also dismissed speculation that the Chief of Staff was arrested, stressing that he voluntarily honoured the invitation and cooperated with investigators.

The Commission said investigations into the alleged PFIPC fraud are ongoing and assured the public that further updates would be provided as necessary.
