Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have disrupted a suspected terrorist logistics network in Borno State, arresting six suspects and recovering a large consignment of materials believed to be destined for terrorist elements operating in the North East.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the intelligence-led operation was carried out by troops of Sector 1 at about 4:00 p.m. on 19 July 2026 along a suspected terrorist logistics route.
The statement said troops mounted a covert stop-and-search operation based on credible intelligence, leading to the interception of five vehicles conveying the suspected logistics suppliers. Six suspects were arrested during the operation.
Items recovered included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing suspected acid, one Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
The military said preliminary assessments indicate that the recovered items have potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, mobility, communications and sustainment. It added that the NPK fertiliser and suspected acid would undergo further technical and forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
According to the statement, the seizure represents a significant setback for suspected terrorist logistics networks and further weakens their ability to sustain operations across the theatre.
The six suspects and all recovered exhibits have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for detailed investigation to establish the intended recipients of the supplies, identify other members of the logistics network and facilitate the arrest of additional collaborators and sponsors.
The military also disclosed that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered family members of terrorists indicate that sustained military operations targeting logistics and supply chains have significantly degraded the operational capability of terrorist groups.
According to the debriefings, persistent shortages of food, medical supplies, communication equipment and other essential logistics have forced many terrorists to abandon their camps, families and hostages while fleeing sustained military pressure.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through sustained intelligence-driven operations, stressing that it would continue to target terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants and collaborators to deny them the resources and operational capability needed to sustain insurgent activities.
The military also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information on suspicious persons and activities, noting that public cooperation remains critical to ongoing counter-terrorism efforts and the restoration of lasting peace in the North East.
