The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has commended the Federal Government and the nation’s security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to an official statement signed by the Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda described the rescue operation as a reassuring demonstration of the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, to safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians.

He also congratulated the security agencies and Nigerians on the safe release of the victims, noting that it brought relief after days of anxiety, uncertainty and emotional distress.

The APC National Chairman attributed the success of the operation to the close collaboration among the nation’s security agencies, the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government, describing the coordinated effort as instrumental to securing the victims’ freedom.

Professor Yilwatda expressed sympathy for the rescued pupils, teachers and their families, acknowledging the psychological and emotional trauma they endured during their captivity. He prayed for their full recovery and the strength to overcome the experience.

He particularly commended the gallantry, professionalism and resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local intelligence networks and other security and emergency agencies involved in the operation.

According to him, the successful rescue underscores the importance of intelligence sharing, inter-agency cooperation and sustained collaboration in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Professor Yilwatda also applauded the Oyo State Government for working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies throughout the rescue efforts, saying the seamless partnership demonstrated that national security is a collective responsibility that transcends political affiliations.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the APC-led Federal Government to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture through improved intelligence gathering, deployment of modern technology and sustained support for security agencies to deny criminal elements safe havens across the country.

“The safety of Nigerians remains the foremost responsibility of government. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is leaving no stone unturned in his determination to rid the country of criminality and create a secure environment where every Nigerian can live, work, learn and pursue legitimate livelihoods without fear,” he stated.

While celebrating the release of the victims, the APC National Chairman urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to help prevent crime and enhance ongoing operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

He reaffirmed the party’s confidence in the Tinubu administration’s ongoing security reforms, expressing optimism that sustained efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies would continue to improve safety and security across the country.
